Introduction to Birthday Adventures : For my 32nd birthday, Brianne Warner marshalled my dearest friends to each sponser an adventure per month for every month of my 32nd year. The adventures are diverse: beer making, fall colors appreciation, biking, picknicking, theater, and in the company of my friends, I have enjoyed all and am looking forward to the rest. This is the best birthday gift I've ever gotten!

Beer Brewing & Drinking - 32 : Adventure sponsered by Risa: Knowing that I love beer and I love parties, Risa acquired a Mr. Beer Brew Kit for us. The fun began in her kitchen where we had a lot of fun brewing the beer while talking "girl talk". About 10 days later, we reconvened to bottle the beer and upon return from Nicaragua, we gathered with a group of friends to taste it.

Picnic with CJ and Anna in the Botanical Gardens - 32 : I've never had a birthday picnic in April before :) C.J, Anna and I ate subs, drank root beers and talked about our futures on a sunny Sunday in the park. We then took a walk and caught the very same tree that my parents have in their yard in full bloom. The blooming of our tree in Baltimore is always pretty special, so it was great for me to experience it from afar.

White Water Rafting - 32 : Helene, an avid white water paddler, sponsered the June adventure of white water rafting. This was lucky, as I had won a free white water rafting trip during the 2006 Greenbrier Trek, so I had a built in paddle buddy. We combined the paddle with our return to West Virginia for the 2007 Greenbrier Trek (see photos in Nature section). Since Helene is the one with the wet camera, the photos can be found on her page - http://www.scalliet.smugmug.com/gallery/2881411#154863211

Oh, fair warning - you might get lost in all her fabulous photos.

Enlightened Adventure - 32 : A visit to the Association for Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach sponsered by Brianne. We attended a meditation class and an ESP (extra sensory preception) demonstration. There are 3 types of ESP: telepothy (knowing the present), retropathy (a sense of the past), preconception (a sense of the future). In the ESP demonstration, the moderator held up a card with a symbol, and we were to write our impression on the cards in the picture. It turns out, I am gifted in none of these. Brianne scored a 10 out of 25 in retropathy, meaning she has a bit of ESP. Watch out!

National Folk Festival - 32 : Live Music is always something I enjoy, so this Birthday Adventure was sponsored by Brianne. We attended the National Folk Festival (which was in Richmond for it's 3rd and final year). Being the intrepid outdoors oriented people that we are, we camped at Pocohontas State Park in the Richmond area. Joining us on this adventure were Jeremy and Anna. We had quite the relaxing time in the woods, wandering around Richmond and listening to many stages of live folk music from many nations.

Rissotto Adventure - 33 : Helene drove down for the Rissotto birthday adventure. Yummy, but better made in a team, because one must not stop stirring. We also made baked tofu, and have chocolate pudding for dessert, simpled but soooo gooood! And of course, with all this eating, we had to go biking. On the way back, there was a visit to the store with the camel in the front and the perpetual going out of business sale (the owner swears it's for real this time)
